Bromothymol blue (also known as bromothymol sulfone phthalein or BTB) is a pH indicator. It is mostly utilized in applications that require measuring substances with a relatively neutral pH (around 7). A popular application is to detect the presence of carbonic acid in a liquid. It is commonly sold in powder or solid form as the sodium salt of the acid indicator.
