Safety Data Sheet

Description

Propylene carbonate is a cyclic carbonate ester formed from propylene glycol. This colorless, odorless liquid serves as a polar, aprotic solvent. Although it is chiral, it is most commonly employed as a racemic combination. It serves as a polar, aprotic solvent. Propylene carbonate has a high relative permittivity of 64, it is commonly employed as a high-permittivity component of electrolytes in lithium batteries, usually in conjunction with a low-viscosity solvent such as dimethoxyethane. It can also be found in certain adhesives, paint removers, and cosmetics. It is also utilized as a plasticizer.
